One lesson I have learned over this year is that starting your own business is hard work. There are countless incredible brands out there who work endlessly to make their products available to you. This season, I want to highlight some of these brands who create quality products, who care about their clients, and who work so very diligently each and every day of the year. Here is a round-up of the best toddler brands of 2018. Each one is a small business, most of them family–owned and operated.
For Genny’s 2nd birthday, we did a collaborative shoot with Jana Kay Photography and these special brands. Take a glimpse of each shop and read a little about their stories!
This darling bow shop handcrafts fabric bows and accessories for your little darling. Their collection is always being updated, and right now features an assortment of Fall and Winter colors in addition to their standard colors. The bows are high in quality and come in piggy or clip style. Additional items available for purchase are handmade scarves, luveys, and floral hair clip holders.
This brand is my FAVORITE for bows and hair clips because of their classic style, vibrant colors, and quality materials. Also, let’s face it, I need all the help I can get in the hair department!
For each order with at least 3 listings purchased, Little Butt Bowtique also donates 1 nylon headband bow to their local NICU! Free shipping for orders $30+
Grounded in natural wellness, Moon Blanket creates amber necklaces for both parents and babies. As stated on their website, “Baltic amber is a resin that when warmed by the body emits succinic acid that stimulates the immune system which reduces teething pain, drooling and inflammation.” Their necklaces come in a variety of colors and styles, including cognac, lava rock, jasper, petrified wood, amethyst, moonstone, tiger’s eye, and more.
Their dedication to quality shines through in their challenge to “test” their products to see if they are real amber. At the base of their web page are these instructions: “Home amber test: dissolve 1/4 cup salt in water and watch it float!”
Bamboo fabric is among the highest quality fabric for children’s towels. In my video review, I discuss the top 8 reasons for choosing bamboo fabric. All these reasons point to why bamboo is safe, gentle, and even healthy for young skin.
Owner and creator, Sophia, began Bambi Bamboo in an effort to find relief for her children’s terrible eczema. Their towels come in bright unicorn colors or more simple patterns such as strawberries or lemons. No matter your style preference, you will find a style you adore! I appreciate Bambi Bamboo’s dedication to environmental responsibility and that they understand that what goes ON your skin matters.
Sustainable materials and cute patterns join together in this adorable brand. Finn + Emma is dedicated to chemical-free living and products that will last. When you have young children, going through toys, clothing, and shoes can be expensive and wasteful. I love Finn + Emma because the quality of their products is evident in their look and feel.
This Big Buddy heirloom doll is not only adorable, but it is also durable! The fabric is so soft and perfect for cuddling. Genny can walk around with it all day long, and the strong seams keep it safe and intact. Clearly it can handle a lot of use, making it well-worth the cost. Try buying something this quality at Wal-Mart!
This brand started out as Pennies for Porter, a venture to help a family grieving the unexpected loss of their baby boy. Eventually, the blessing of this brand spread so wide that they were able to create more products than just bows. Now, Sweet N Swag is a well-known brand of shoes that goes by the slogan, “We design shoes that stay on babies’ feet.”
Sweet N Swag continues to give back. With every dollar they make, shoes are donated to new-born intensive care units across the country, needy children in Africa, homeless shelters, and oncology units.
These ruby-red jewels are now among Genny’s favorite shoes. They add a dash of class to any outfit! They’re definitely some of mama’s favorites, too. True to their statement, these shoes STAY on her feet! Another aspect I really appreciate.
This Etsy shop creates not only adorable, high-quality heirloom dolls, but also cute outfits to dress them in. Becky started this shop using skills taught to her by her grandmother, and now she works at home with her baby girl. I adore this doll!! Both the doll and its clothes are made from high quality material that is easy to clean (super important) and is extremely durable.
Genny currently sleeps with her “Little Fawn” every night. These dolls are great comfort items because they will withstand years and years of, um, “love”. If your baby’s going to attach to an item, one of these dolls would be a friend she could enjoy well through toddlerhood and into early elementary!

Wind and Whistle
This shop in a word: precious. Each item of clothing, I want in adult-size. And in my closet.
Clothing for babies as well as girls and boys, Wind and Whistle has a variety of patterns and accessories to choose from. Their prices are significantly lower than other shops, but the quality remains reliable. This floral harvest dress Genny wore as her “birthday dress” goes with nearly any color shoe and works so well with the mustard tights, also Wind and Whistle!
I love the vintage vibes of their styles AND the fact that these styles are now back in popularity! Go click through their site and see their collection of Fall and Winter items for prices comparable to Carter’s.
Julie started Mon Petit because she wanted shoes that would keep her babies’ feet warm while swaddled: meet the soft-sole shoe! Popularity demanded her business grow, and now I’m so grateful that they offer hard-soled shoes ranging from oxfords to T-straps. Their soft-soled shoes are 100% handmade, and their hard-soles are ethically crafted overseas out of genuine leather and rubber.
These T-straps Genny is wearing are the perfect combination of vintage and class. Matching nearly anything in her closet, every day is a good day for these pretty pink babies. I adore them for their hard-soles, their handmade touches, and, yes, even their smell of real cowhide leather!
If you know me, you know I’m passionate about putting healthy things in and on my body. That’s why Tubby Todd is near and dear to my heart as they work to create products that are not only hypo-allergenic and gentle on the skin but are also plant-based and non-synthetic. Their bath products are made from clean, all-natural ingredients that are safe for the whole family.
Genny has sensitive skin and can break out in rashes if the product is too harsh. I love that Tubby Todd is safe for cleaning and moisturizing newborn skin, making it a perfect fit for my little one, head to toe.
